My vision for Newcastle
I’m working to make Newcastle the best place in the UK to be born, live, work and grow old. I want our city to be a welcoming place where people care for each other and we look after the environment. I want us to have confidence that Newcastle has a bright and optimistic future, and that children growing up here today have the best chances in life.
My ambition is for Newcastle to be known as the Great North City – a proud place, with passionate people and a warm, generous spirit.MY STORY

“Despite the cuts, I’m confident about our city’s future”
“Good quality, well paid jobs are at the heart of my vision for our economy”
“I want to tackle inequalities that hold people back”
“Our city’s residents and communities are our biggest asset”
My priorities for Newcastle
Quality jobs are the key to fairness, prosperity and growth in Newcastle. I want an economy that thrives, by improving the quality and amount of jobs available.
Our children deserve the best start in life. I am working to ensure everyone has a fair chance, and that we ensure our city's children get the education that helps them achieve their dreams.
We're tackling the housing crisis by building more affordable and decent housing, bringing empty properties back into use and improving private rental standards.
I'm working to make Newcastle a clean, green and safe city, tackling crimes like flytipping and littering and making sure everyone can enjoy our parks and open spaces.
I want Newcastle to be a healthy, caring city - where we look after older and vulnerable people, support our NHS and promote public health in everything we do.
We can change Newcastle for the better, together. With your support we can create campaigns that push for a fairer Newcastle.
